The Birth of Funk 2CD
Various Artists
2CD (history of soul)
Recommended!! The beginnings of Funk before it was shaped as it was much later. According to this album's notes, some of it came from the Jazz musicians in New Orleans who went to other clubs after their regular work and started playing a more downtempo and dirty kind of stuff just for fun. A theory that makes sense after listening to these 47 numbers from years before Funk even had a name. This is basically a great R&B comp. With Yvonne Fair, Eddie Bo, Huey "Piano" Smith, Earl King, Turniquettes, James Brown, Bill Doggett, Billy Stewart and Roy Montrell among others.

Recomendado!!
