This trio was one of the very early combos in mixing the West Coast nightclub Jazz sound with the Blues, inspired by the Nat "King" Cole trio. The original line-up was active from 1943 to 1948, when singer and pianist Charles Brown started a more successful career. They went on until the early 60's with some substitutes as Frankie Ervin, Floyd Dixon and Billy Valentine. Johnny Otis plays in one of these sides. Este trío fue pionero en unir el sonido de Jazz de club nocturno popular en la Costa Oeste con el Blues, inspirados en el trío de Nat "King" Cole.
