One of the main professional writers and lyricists of Rock and Roll, hands down, who teamed up with his partner Mort Shuman in one of the most talented songwriting duos ever. His songs were recorded by literally hundreds of top artists (Elvis, Coasters, Beatles, Animals, Drifters, Crickets, Beach Boys, Lloyd Price, etc.) Here is his lesser known stuff: his beginnings as a semi-pro Blues singer inspired by the likes of Wynonie Harris and Big Joe Turner and also some demos made for other artists to learn before recording.
