This essential composer, arranger and producer from New Orleans worked with such great artists as Fats Domino, Shirley & Lee, Smiley Lewis, Chris Kenner, Frankie Ford, Robert Parker, etc... Unfortunately he never reached success with his own recordings, but he did with other people covering his stuff ("My Ding A Ling" recorded by Chuck Berry, for instance). His style is similar to that of the R&B singers backed with a big band as Louis Jordan. Here are twenty tracks cut for the Deluxe and King labels between 1949 and 1952.
Este importantísimo compositor, arreglista y productor de Nueva Orleans trabajó con figuras de la talla de Fats Domino, Shirley & Lee, Smiley Lewis, Chris Kenner, Frankie Ford, Robert Parker, etc... Por desgracia nunca tuvo éxito con sus propias grabaciones, aunque sí a través de otros artistas ("My Ding A Ling" en la versión de Chuck Berry, por ejemplo). Su estilo está cerca de cantantes acompañados de grupos-orquesta como Louis Jordan. En esta recopilación se recogen veinte temas grabados para los sellos Deluxe y King entre 1949 y 1952.
