This drummer started as a young kid dancer who also passed the hat for small orchestrad booked in restaurants until he learnt percussion. The teamed up with Jazz bands that played in ships and small joints until he joined the Count Basie band in the mid 30's. He recorded with some great Jazz names as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Slim Gaillard, Benny Carter and others. He's one of the most unfairly underrated Jazz drummers. The recordings in this album were made in 1946-1948, on which Price not only beats the drums but also sings in all of them. Seventeen tracks.
