OK, the picture sleeve is rather ugly (liner notes and pictures on both sides), but the contents are top notch. Before becoming half of one of the main professional songwriting Rock and Roll, Pop and R&B duos, he tried fortune as a singer in the early 40's in the style of Big Joe Turner. And he wasn't bad at all, specially being a white kid in a black people's community of musicians. Here are the earliest recordings of his singing times, backed by some legendary names (Bill Doggett, Freddie Mitchell, King Curtis, Mickey Baker). Stuff from 1945-1955.
